Range High Short

What Range High Short detects

False breakouts above the top of a trading range. Price pushes through a resistance level, fails to hold above it and falls back inside the range, leaving the buyers who chased the breakout trapped. That failure is the basis for a short setup.

The two scenarios

A fast rejection, where price is pushed back below the level quickly even though buying delta was positive — buyers were absorbed. And a support-resistance flip, where the broken level is retested from below, fails as support and price breaks down.

How traders use it

As a counter-trend setup inside ranges, with the stop above the failed high. In a strong uptrend, breakouts are more likely to be real, so the setup is weakest exactly when the higher-timeframe trend is pointing up.
