What Whale Intelligence tracks
What it measures. Open positions of the largest traders on Hyperliquid — a decentralised perpetuals exchange where every position is on-chain and therefore public. For each whale wallet you see direction, coin, leverage, position size, entry price, unrealised PnL and the liquidation level, refreshed every 30 seconds.
How to read it. Two numbers carry most of the signal. The long/short split shows how the biggest accounts are positioned overall — a heavy skew is a crowded trade, not a confirmation. The Whale Flow signal tracks the change in that positioning between refreshes, which is what actually matters: whales quietly reversing is more informative than whales already being long.
How traders use it. The common use is confirmation and timing rather than a standalone entry. If your own analysis says long and whale flow is turning long on the same coin, the setup has agreement behind it. The other use is risk: dense clusters of whale liquidation prices mark levels the market often gets pulled toward, which makes them poor places to leave a stop.
Where does the whale data come from?
Hyperliquid's public API. Because it is a decentralised exchange, positions settle on-chain and are visible without any special access — no estimation or modelling is involved.
What counts as a whale here?
Wallets are selected from the exchange leaderboard by position size and sustained activity, and the roster is rotated across coins so a single asset does not crowd out the rest of the market.
Does whale positioning predict price?
Not on its own. Large accounts are wrong regularly and often hedge across venues, so a position you see may be one leg of a trade you cannot see. It works best as a confirming input alongside structure and volume, not as a signal in isolation.
How often does it update?
Every 30 seconds. The Whale Flow signal needs a few consecutive refreshes before it can report a direction, because it measures change in positioning rather than a snapshot.
